Wedding traditions can be the great divider between friends and family, over the next 7 days we will give you new ideas on how to stick with tradition but still making your wedding your own – we call it Tradition with a Twist!
The White Dress
Have you even wonder where the tradition of wearing white on your wedding day came from? Queen Victoria elected to wear a white wedding gown instead of royal silver for her wedding in 1840, which is said to have sparked the colour’s popularity. Before this, brides wore their best gown and colour wasn’t a crucial factor. Contrary to today’s beliefs, white symbolised wealth and blue was the colour of putiry.
For your wedding day, you could emulate the princess look with a strapless ball gown with a matching tiara but this look isn’t everyone’s cup of tea!
These days, wedding dresses come in so many different styles and fabrics that you will be selling yourself short by not trying on at least a few different styles – ball gown, mermaid, sleek and slinky – so many to choose from! And to go that extra bit further, why not choose a gown in in a tone that really complements your skintone or the colour theme of your big day. Try a darker warmer shade like latte or magnolia or a pale pink. For a bigger pop of colour try coloured shoes in electric blues and dazzling reds.
Have fun experimenting and stay tunned for our next post on Wedding Veils.
